Son river in M.P. is known as Swarna
river. It is originated from Sonkund (Amarkantak hill)
in Anuppur dist. It flows north-east. It flows through
Anuppur, Shahdol, Rewa, Sidhi dists. and merges in
Ganga river near Danapur (Bihar). The total length
of Son River is 780 km.(509 km in M.P.).
Note : Son River is the largest river in the southern
part of the Ganges, which forms the boundary
between the Kaimur Range and the Chota Nagpur
Plateau. Son River is known by the names Nanda,
Son, Suvarna, Sonnarki, Subhagdi, Shonabhadra, Soa
(provided by Tolemy). Hiranyavaha etc.
