Paan Singh Tomar was an Indian soldier,
an athlete and a baaghi (rebel). He was a seven-time
national steeplechase champion in the 1950s and 1960s
and represented India at the Asian Games of 1958. In
1981, Paan Singh Tomar died in a shootout with hundreds
of armed members of police task force seeking to capture
him. In 1981, Paan Singh’s brother was killed in a police
encounter, in return, he killed six people of Gurjara
Community, After this, Chief Minister Arjun Singh
ordered to arrest Paan Singh dead or alive and on 1 st Oct.,
1981 around 10,000 soldiers surrounded and killed Paan
Singh.
