In M.P., the extension of the Kaimur Series
rocks of the Upper Vindhyan Series is found in the Ken
river valley area, in which deposits of granite and
conglomerate are found. In addition, the extension of the
Rewa Series is found in Sagar and Panna districts and lies
north-west of the Kaimur Series. It consists of shales at
the base called the Panna shales. The sandstones lying
over the Panna shales are divided into two stages, viz, the
lower and upper Rewa sandstones which are separated
from each other by the Jhiri shales.
