On 8th Aug., 2019 Nanaji Deshmukh
(Chandikadas Amritrao Deshmukh) was posthumously
awarded the ‘Bharat Ratna’. Nanaji Deshmukh founded
Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya University in
the Year 1991, which is the first rural university in India.
He was its first.Chancellor. Nanaji was born on 11th Oct.,
1916 in a Brahmin family in a small town called Kadoli in
Hingoli dist., Maharashtra. He founded the Deendayal
Sodh Sansthan in the university campus and lived and
served there throughout his life.
