sad song based on Shringar Ras. It is sung In the
Question-Answer format.
The major folk songs of Bundelkhand are;
1. AlhaGayan : Alha was created by Jagnik in 12th century.
The major dialects of Alha Khand are in Bundelkhandi.
Alhait sing the Alha Khand in villages, which is specially
performed in monsoon season, with Dholak and
Nagadiya. It is one of the longest epic in the world.
2. Hardaul ki Manauti : It is a Valour song performed in
Bundelkhand. Hardaul was a great warrior in the region
who sacrificed his life to prove his fair/holy relation with
the queen. Lala Hardaul is considered as a folk deity
throughout Bundelkhand. Here, the first marriage
invitation card is served to Lala Hardaul and the women
sing the Bhat-Manouti (rice) for Hardaul to complete the
marriage successfully. People come all over Bundelkhand
and Baghelkhand to offer the cards on the platform of
Lala Hardaul located in Orchha.
3. Bambulia or Lametra : It is also known as Bhola song.
It is a melodious song of Bundelkhand. It is sung in group
while going to take bath in Narmada river.
