Kalidas has described the beauty of nature
in Meghdoot. It contains the story of Yaksha. In this
work, the imagination of Kalidas is at its peak. It is a short
poem of only 11 stanzas and is one of Kalidasa’s most
illustrious works. Meghdoot is divided into two parts-
Purvamegha (Previous cloud) and Uttaramegha
(Consequent cloud). Meghdoot was the first poem to be
translated into English by Horace Hayman Wilson in
1813.
