Jila Panchayat main task is to Control,
coordinate and guide, the Janapad Panchayat and
Gram Panchayat within the district.
Functions of Jila Panhayat (Section 52)
(a) Control, coordinate and guide, the Janapad
Panchayat and Gram Panchayat within the district.
(b) Coordinate and consolidate the Janapad Panchayat
Plans.
(c) Coordinate the demands for grants for special
purpose received from the Janpad Panchayats and
forward them to the State Government.
(d) Ensure the execution of the plans, projects,
schemes or other works common to two or more
Janapad Panchayats in the district.
(e) Advice the State Government in the development
activities.
(f) Exercise and perform such other powers and functions
as the Sate Government may entrust to it.
The Jila Panchayat shall control and supervise the
administration of District Rural Development
Agency within its jurisdiction and all functions and
schemes assigned to the district shall be
implemented under the superintendence, direction
and control of the Jila Panchayat.
