Flu symptoms require emergency medical attention if you experience severe shortness of breath, chest pain, blue-tinted lips or skin, sudden confusion, difficulty waking up, or seizures. Other urgent warning signs include severe, unrelenting vomiting, an inability to keep fluids down, or a fever and cough that briefly improve before returning much worse.
