Mesosomes help in invagination of the membranes.
Large septal mesosomes occur near centre of the cell and
smaller lateral mesosomes away from the centre. Septal
mesosomes help in cell division and lateral mesosomes
assist in the reproduction of bacterial DNA chromosome.
