The Halali Project has been
constructed on the Halali River, a tributary of Betwa
in Vidisha district of M.P. It is also called the Ashok
Sagar Project. Halali river literally means ‘River of
slaughter’. Apart from this, Halali River is also called
Banganga and Thal river by the local people.
