The Ravines Improvement scheme
was started in the Year 1971 by the Central
Government for the treatment of ravines areas in
the northern part of M.P., with the aim of making 55
thousand hectare area ravines free at a cost of 1224
crore rupee. Apart from this, in the Year 1977-78, an
initiative was taken by the Government of M.P. to
improve one lakh hectare rugged area in Morena,
Bhind, Gwalior, Datia districts to make it arable land.
Note : In the Year 2018, the Government of India is
making efforts to identify and eradicate the erosion
problem through the country and hence including the
Chambal region also in the Green Agriculture
Project.
