The Community Development
Program was a multi-project program with the aim
of an overall development of rural people. This
program included the subjects like agriculture, animal
husbandry, irrigation, co-operation, public wealth,
education, social education, communication, village
industries etc. Initially this programme was first
implemented as poilat project In Etawah and
Gorakhpur districts of Uttar Pradesh in 1948. further
an agreement was signed between India and the US
in January 1952. under which the Ford Foundation
of America deployed funding for the overall
development of rural areas. Programme was started
with establishing development blocks from 2nd Oct.,
1952.
