(i) Heterotrophic bacteria They decompose dead
bodies of plants and animals. So, they are nature’s
scavengers, the organic content of sewage is broken
down by these bacteria. They also generate humus
which is used in agriculture.
(ii) Archaebacteria They are used in gobar gas (biogas)
production and are helpful causing fermentation of
cellulose in ruminants.
