Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi was born on
4th April, 1889 in Babai (Now Makhan Nagar) village of
Narmadapuram district. He was a teacher and then
influenced by National Freedom Movement. He came in
contact of Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi who was the
editor of ‘Prabha’ at that time. In 1919, Chaturvedi ji
become the editor of Karma Veer. Later, he also worked
for Pratap. He was sent to Jail for charge of treason.
Main compositions : Him Kiritni, Him Tarangini, Mata
Yugcharan, Maren Jawar, Dhijuri Kajol,Aaj Rahi, Dhumra
Valay, Sahitya Devta, Kala ka Anuvad, Samay ke Paanv
etc. He also wrote “Rango ki Boli” in a new form of prose
style. “Pushp ki Abhilash”poetry written in Bilaspur
Prison is a very famous poem.
