Larukaj is a festival celebrated by the Gond
tribe of M.P.They worship their deity “Narayan Dev” on
this day and sacrifice pig and consider it as a good symbol
of marriages. ‘Laru’ means bridegroom and ‘Kaj’ refers to
a ‘Solemn occasion’. It also means marriage ceremony.
Sacrifice of Pig is considered as an honour to Narayan
Dev. This sacrifice is supposed to be done by every family
member once in nine or twelve years for prosperity, health
and happiness.
