A three-time Grammy award winner, Pandit Ravi Shankar was nominated for a Grammy award for 2013 too. He was given the Bharat Ratna in 1999. Shankar was nominated for an Oscar for his musical score for the movie “Gandhi.”
The prime minister’s office confirmed his death and called him a “national treasure.”
