Bhavabhuti was a great Sanskrit poet and
playwriter. According to the historians, it is clear from
the description of Rajatarangini that he was the court
poet of Yashovarman, the Ruler of Kannauj. His period
belongs to 7th century A.D. Bhavabhuti was born in a
Deshastha Brahmin family in Padmapur located in Gondia
dist. on the border of Maharashtra and M.P.
