Black soil is formed from volcanic
lava (season of fire rocks). It contains a large
amount of elements like Iron, Aluminium and lime but
there is a lack of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Humus and
Organic Matter. Due to presence of Iron, this soil is
black in colour and presence of Lime increases its
capacity of water retention. Black soil is alkaline in
nature.
