Tendu leaf(Diospyros Malanoxylon)
is the chief minor forest produce of M.P. Though a
big area under the tendu forest went away to
Chhatisgarh, yet it is abundantly found in the
northern-central-east districts of M.P. i.e. Sagar,
(Highest), Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Bhopal, Jabalpur,
Rewa, Sidhi, Shahdol.Tendu leaves are used in
manufacturing of Bidi, which is an important industry
in M.P. In the state, nearly 260 bidi industries have
been set up. Half of the tendu leaves of the country
are produced in M.P. only.
