Narmada and its 41 tributaries create
Narmada Drainage System which extends to four
states-Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and
Rajasthan. The Narmada Drainage System is of the
Trellis pattern and under it, the Narmada and its
tributaries merge into the Arabian Sea flowing
westward. M.P. has 89.9 % area of Narmada
Drainage System whereas 6.5 5 % area comes under
Gujarat and 2.7 % comes under Maharashtra.
