Famous artists born in Indore :
(a) Devyani Krishna was born in Indore and completed
her primary education in painting from Indore under
the guidance of Shri D.D. Devlalaikar. She did her
Diploma in Paintings from J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai.
She got married with Shri Kanwal Krishna, a famous
painter in 1941.She painted the natural beauty and
lifestyle of tribes. She is also fond of making toys for
children. She spent much time in Sikkim-Tibet for
making protraits.
(b) Narayan Shridhar Bendre was born on 21stAugust,
1910 in Indore. He received Primary Training from
Devlalikar. His famous paintings are : Avashyakta se
Mukti, Grameen Jeevan, Kashmir ki Ghati, Nainital ki
Jheel, Uttarakhand, Amarnath, Himalaya, Prarthana,
Gandhiji etc.
(c) Lakshmi Shankar Rajput was born in Indore in 1919.
He was a disciple of great painter Shri Devlalaikar. He
was proficient in Academic portraits. “Varsha Agman
is his famous painting which is painted with
“Prabhavvadi Riti” (Influencing art style) and received
famous prize “Varda-ukil”.

Syed Haider Raza was born in 1922 in
Babariya village of Narsinghpur. In 1950, he got
scholarship from French Arts Academy and worked in
Paris. In 1953, French Govt. honoured him with Prothelitic
Award (France) and Padma Shree. In 1996, M.P. Govt.
honoured him with the Kalidas Award. He passed away
in 2017. His major paintings are : Atal Sunya ki Anantata,
Bindu, Ansuni, Awaj, Maa, Rajasthan, Safed Phool,
Fertility, Naag, Ankuran and Spandan etc.
